Breakfast was nice. We've accumulated enough foods that we were able to pretty much graze from the fridge.

I ate cold leftover pork loin.

Another trip to Publix was needed; we were out of sunscreen and some other suddenly necessary items. We've been getting these aerosol cans of SPF 30 stuff, and they do a nice job as far as keeping us from getting sunburned, but they're expensive. I decided I'd get some "No-Ad" brand, which is my favorite, and a cream. One bottle of that costs half as much as two of the spray cans, and will last a lot longer. It isn't as convenient, but I, at least, am going to use it for the rest of the trip.

Suddenly, there was a torrential downpour. After it stopped, we headed back to the beach.

Macy loves to just watch the waves come in. I love to watch Macy watching the waves come in.

The boys decided they would rather go up to the pool rather than play at the beach, so I gathered my stuff and went up there to be able to keep an eye on them.

They floated around happily for some time in the upper-deck pool.

Then they floated around happily for some time in the lower-deck pool.

Getting closer to dinner time, and clouds started rolling in. The picture doesn't really show how dark things started to look.

Grandmother planned to stay with the kids while Leah and I went out for a dinner date. We left the condo area, headed east toward Destin, and drove through several restaurant parking lots. In one of them, a pirate was leaving work.

He doesn't show up too well because it was raining, dark, and I took the picture while making a left turn.

The places in Destin were either too kitschy (Fudpucker's has something called "Chicken A La Fud" which gives me NO clue as to what the puck that might be), too "ruggedly authentic" (read that as "looked like a dumpster had vomited out a restaurant), or had a big sign that said "Home of the All You Can Drink for $20 Nightclub!" So, we turned around and headed back to the first place we'd seen, called "Angler's". I had the special, Leah had a platter of some sort. When the bill came, hers turned out to have been about $24, and she remarked something along the lines of "that's WAY overpriced for what I got". I agreed, but reminded her that it was a $14 meal with a $10 charge for us to get to sit 50 feet from the ocean while we ate.

We discussed the possibility of getting some sort of commemorative tattoo, maybe matching tattoos. My only caveat was to avoid the sure-fire relationship-killer of getting each other's names tattooed. The jury is still out on the inking, though.

We got back to the condo, told everyone that our date wasn't over, took off our shoes and headed out to walk on the beach in the dark. At the beach, a woman and two little girls were walking around with a flashlight, net, and bucket. I asked the girl with the net what she was planning to catch. She showed me these creatures in her bucket, and explained that "that guy back there said that they're sand fleas". They looked like some sort of crab to me.

Apparently, they're something called a mole crab, and they come out at night, and kids get nets and flashlights and buckets and go capture them.

I asked the girl what she was going to do with them. Her mother replied, "well, they're not goin' home with us, I can tell ya that".

Every night, as I tuck Maddie and Macy in for bed, I ask them how their vacation is going. They seem tired and happy every night, so far. I've been in absolute heaven having them. Nathan and Clayton have been having a lot of fun, and even though Nathan got a little irritated with Clayton at one point, they're good enough friends that he was able to say what he needed to say and they were able to move past it.
